Senior Delegation of CIGIU Visited the Chinese Embassy in Italy

On June 26, during the 9th edition of Graphene2019, major members of the CIGIU Senior Delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Italy. Sun Chengyong, counsellor on Science and Technology, welcomed the delegation and gave an introduction from history, humanities and customs. on Italy's advantages in technological innovation.

Liu Zhongfan, Senior Consultant of CIGIU, Member of the 13th National Committee of the CPPCC, Vice Chairman of the Beijing CPPCC, and Professor of Peking University, introduced the recent survey of the graphene industry conducted by Beijing Graphene Institute and Association for Advanced Carbon Industry Promotion. The survey indicates that China's graphene industry is developing well, but it needs to learn the craftsmanship of European entrepreneurs and the innovative thinking of scientists. The development of an industry requires a process, it can not be rushed, but requires the spirit of craftsmanship. He stressed that, “We need to strives for excellence, and create solid industry-oriented technology”. He also noted that, “breaking the shackles and opening up our mind in technology research and development can solve the "bottleneck" problem in core technology”.

Mr. Run Ruxiang, Permanent Vice Chairman of CIGIU, introduced the annual summit of the China-Europe Graphene Industry Cooperation and Development Forum, co-organized with European Graphene Conference Organizing Committee since 2018, and he also discussed with Mr. Sun Chengyong, Counsellor on Science and Technology, on how to implement the Belt and Road Initiative in the field of science and technology under the current international situation. They exchanged views on topics such as protecting the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, safeguarding intellectual property rights and creating a fair business ground.

Counsellor Sun Chengyong said that only by accumulating more international consensus and concentrating the wisdom and strength of all parties can we achieve continuous optimization and development. The Embassy is willing to further support the development cooperation between Chinese and Italian companies in the advanced carbon materials industry such as graphene, and promote the synergy between the two countries to reach a win-win development.
